Ok, guys. Many people know me for my assault loadout with the mitzi light cannon pack, but nobody seems to understand it.
There is a reason I use it all the time. The reason is a combination of power, speed, and most importantly versatility. This loadout can literally kill anything and rape bases also. I have even been known to kill heavy 'mechs in just 2 passes.
So, first things first: the loadout. remember to keep the weapons in this particular order. The weapon order allows you to use a mobility tool with just one weapon switch at any time.
1. Mitzi cannon
2. Protron
3. ELF
3. Blaster (regular, not K/M)
"But Floater," you say, "this loadout sounds weak!"
"Oh but it is strong. Why? because of the pack"
Pack: Mitzi Light Cannon
"Why Mitzi Light Cannon and not AC burst or grenade cannon?"
Mitzi damages everything, in the words of Keen. Also, bind your pack key to something that is easy to use, like center mouse button as you will constantly fire mitzi light cannon pack any time you shoot another weapon.
Grenades: Mortar
This is for doing the heavy one hit damage, you can spam these everywhere to take out even the most tenacious heavy.
Armor mod: kinetic resistance
This is for resisting the most annoying weapon of all, the mech minigun, which bots and players alike use when they realize they just can't hit you.
"Sounds like this loadout is carefully designed. So, I guess it must be carefully used. How do you use it"
Yes, it must be carefully used but if you practice you will find that it is more versatile than anything else, it can fight indoors and outdoors, kill blastechs quickly, and flatten heavies. There are just a few general tactics you must master and here they are:
1. Protron/mitzi strike: Fly up into the air then dive strait towards your target while firing mitzi pack and protron as much and fast as you can. This will usually bring the enemy down to 1/4 health in less than a second. Useful against heavies only, as it must be applied while the enemy is on the ground due to protron splash damage.
2. Rapid fire mitzi 5s: This is my favorite as it is very hard to get away from the fast mitzi 5s. Just hold down your fire key with mitzi cannon on mode 2 (5) and hit the pack key halfway between main weapon shots. This gives you extremely rapid fire.
3. Power punch: Just use mitzi pack and mitzi 5 at the same time, this will kill any light armor in a single hit and the shot moves very fast.
4. Annoying bastard: use the assault CSL (weapon repulsor) and shoot anything that moves with the cannon pack. Useful indoors against anything except BA with shield pack.
5. Counter Strike Junkie: Use blaster on mode 2 (blue blaster) to shoot around corners. When the enemy comes around the corner to 1-hit you, shoot them with the cannon pack. If they go back around the corner wait a second then throw a mortar grenade, as they will likely try again. Use red blaster mode against shielded enemies.
6. You can hide but you can't run: Use ELF on mode 2 to latch onto a fast-moving target. Aim ahead of where they are moving and shoot the cannon pack repeatedly. Kills in 2 hits.
7. Damn turrets: Use blaster on mode 3 (fission pistol) to pound the turret while tapping mitzi cannon pack. Effective against all un-beaconed turrets at long range as well as 'mechs.
So, we have gone over some pretty cool tactics with this loadout, but there are so many more I cannot possibly list them all. A basic thing to remember about this loadout is that it is not designed for one-hit kills, but it is instead designed to do tons of damage fast at particularly opportune moments, and also to never run out of ammo. Feel free to take as many mid-air potshots as you like and do not underestimate your weapons. Though they seem weak, each one does heavy damage against something in one mode or situation or another. For example, though the protron does tiny per-shot damage, attacking enemies while they are on the ground with it means that each shot does splash to the enemy, and combined with the mitzi pack this is more than enough to take down any hostile.
If any of you experiment with this loadout and find any more useful strategies I would love to hear about it. I am surprised by this loadout every day. Also, this is the only loadout i have used since the 1400 versions that is still able to hold it's own in battle. It's use of the most basic MD2 weaponry and lack of ammo based weapons means that it has longevity both over the life of the mod, and over the life of the battle. Stay on your toes and happy hunting!
